YLI 2019 Newsleter

June Newsletter: New release documents required this year!

YLI planning is in full swing here at CYCLE! We are excited to join the YLI community at Babson Executive Conference Center for another great conference, and to be welcoming new organizations to this year’s conference community! Below is the June Newsletter, continue reading for a few reminders, and some new information on this year’s required releases. As always, we welcome your questions! Contact Nichole Smith (nsmith@rwu.edu, (401) 276-7891) for any YLI related questions!

Medical Form Required for Youth Participants and Youth Planning Team Members

We are not collecting permission slips this year, instead all Youth participants must have a medical and photo/video release completed and signed by a guardian. Use this link to access the release, or find it on the YLI website. These releases must be signed before arriving at YLI, please have them signed and bring them with you! For organizations, if you want to require permission slips for your youth participants, we encourage you to coordinate within your organization.

Adult participants, including volunteers and Facilitator Fellows must fill out and sign photo/video releases for both Roger Williams University and The Nellie Mae Education Foundation. Use this link to access the releases, or find the releases on the YLI website.

Call for Proposals!

We’re calling all youth orgs! Do you want to share the work that you are doing in your communities and empower youth all around New England? Now is the time for you! Last year we were excited to learn from one another at YLI during youth-led workshops. We learned organizing skills, restorative justice, and much more. This year we want to do it all over again!

The theme for the Youth Leadership Institute 2019 is “From Vision to Action.” At YLI we want to focus on taking our vision for the education that we deserve and make sure that we have the relationships, the tools and the support we need to get into action and make our visions a reality. Having youth-led workshops is one the main parts of YLI where we can gather the tools to do this and we are excited to see what we can learn this year!

If your organization is interested in applying to present a workshop, visit the workshop proposal page on the YLI website to learn more about the theme and to submit your proposal today!

New Conference App!

This year, instead of binders, we are using Whova, a conference app! Whova will hold all of our materials and allow you to easily access the agenda, take session notes, create a personal conference schedule, and receive last minute updates on room and schedule changes. Download the Whova app using the links below.
